What is the ISO 9001 Standard?
ISO 9001 is the standard for a quality management system ("QMS") at an international platform.
For the certification to the ISO 9001 standard, a company must follow the ISO 9001 Standard.
The standard is used by companies to show their ability and to provide products and services
that meet customer needs and requirements, and to show continuous improvement.
There are various documents in the ISO 9000 family of standards, but ISO 9001 is the only standard in the 9000 series containing certification. Typically, a whole company will want to get a certificate, but the importance of QMS can be to improve performance at a particular facility or department. The current version is ISO 9001:2015, published in September of 2015 (thus the: 2015).
It is based on a 'process-based standard.'It does not define the quality of products and services. You use it for controlling the process of creation and company, and then your final product will give the desired results.
It is not to be like "ISO Certification" or "ISO 9000 Standard", and it is only known as the "ISO 9001 Standard".
An Organisation must need to re-certified every three years to maintain its ISO 9001 Certification.
The size of the organization doesn't matter. ISO 9001 Implementation for Small Businesses also.
The type of industry also does not matter( services or manufacturing). It can be a manufacturing company, restaurant, Government entity, etc.
The aim of any quality management system(ISO 9001) should not be to add unnecessary documentation but to make all references clear and highly usable.
ISO 9001 is a standard of the quality management system that can be used in industries and companies for making better products and services.
